Need For Speed Unbound: Every Starter Car Ranked

Upon booting up "Need for Speed Unbound" and embarking on your street racing journey, you will have an important choice on your hands: Which vehicle should you begin your story with?

"Need for Speed Unbound" makes you choose between three starter cars as your very first ride in Lakeshore City: the 1998 Nissan Silvia K's, the 1969 Dodge Charger R/T, and the Lamborghini Countach 25th. All of these vehicles vary greatly from one another and possess individual strengths and weaknesses that you will have to gauge before determining the right option for your playstyle. And none of them are impressive either, as they will be in poor condition when presented to you.

Despite their status as junkers, these cars still have value and choosing between them can determine how easily you will progress through the early stages of the game. So, how do the three "Need for Speed Unbound" starters measure up?

3. 1969 Dodge Charger R/T

In modern times, classic American muscle cars are typically beloved. However, in "Need for Speed Unbound," one of the more timeless examples of this class kind of got the shaft. While the 1969 Dodge Charger R/T might be stereotyped as a beast when it comes to horsepower, it is actually most adept at drifting in "Need for Speed Unbound." Unfortunately, it falters in the speed department and is the weakest of the three starters in this category (per Respawn First).

Still, if American muscle is your preference when it comes to vehicles and drifting sounds like the way you want to go, then the 1969 Dodge Charger is a decent car to drive around and have fun in. Even if it is the weakest of the three starter cars in "Need for Speed Unbound," you've got to go with what you like and what suits your style at the end of the day.

2. 1998 Nissan Silvia K's

The Nissan Silvia (S15) has a storied history within the "Need for Speed" universe. The car made its debut in 2007's "ProStreet" and has since turned up in ten other "Need for Speed" games with "Unbound" marking its latest appearance.

Admittedly, the 1998 Nissan Silvia K's pure speed doesn't even come close to the Lamborghini Countach 25th, peaking at 142 MPH and going from 0 to 60 in just over 6 seconds (per Sportskeeda). However, the Nissan Silvia K's makes up for its shortcomings with superb control that will ensure you get the most out of corners. When it comes to cornering, the Nissan Silvia K's has a "60% grip and mixed traction" which will practically marry it to the asphalt. To make things better, it won't cost much and will give your wallet some leeway when it comes to upgrading it early.

1. Lamborghini Countach 25th

Of the three starters in "Need For Speed Unbound," the Lamborghini Countach 25th seems to be the most effective. According to Prima Games, the Lamborghini Countach 25th has massive amounts of straight-line speed even without the aid of modifications or aftermarket parts and will peak at 193 MPH when uninterrupted. On top of that, the Lamborghini Countach 25th handles pretty well, has "20% drift capabilities," and will practically stick to the road with decent traction if need be.

To make things ever better, the car is aesthetically pleasing and will be an instant favorite for any fan of '80s exotics due to the sleek design. On top of that, the Lamborghini Countach is a "Need for Speed" staple, having appeared in the 2010 reboot of "Hot Pursuit," its remaster, "Heat," "The Run," "World," the 2012 reboot of "Most Wanted," and "Edge." Just don't expect this car to come cheap.
