Pierce Brosnan Played GoldenEye On N64 Once (And It Didn't Go Well)

Video games aren't for everyone. It seems they especially aren't for famous "James Bond" star Pierce Brosnan. This was made clear when the Irish actor attempted to play the most famous video game featuring the iconic character: "GoldenEye 007." Upon finally being convinced to pick up a controller and engage in a little one-on-one action, Brosnan didn't exactly dazzle the world with his skills.

If Brosnan was going to try out a video game, "GoldenEye 007" for the N64 is about as good as it gets. At least, that was the case when it first came out. Many fans still defend the title to this day in online forums, Giant Bomb still considers it an enjoyable experience, and tributes have been made in its honor, despite the fact that, compared to modern standards, "GoldenEye 007" hasn't aged well. Perhaps that's why when "The Tonight Show" host Jimmy Fallon convinced the world-renowned actor to give the game a whirl, it didn't end well for Brosnan.

Brosnan shot himself in the foot

Towards the end of his interview with the 007 actor, Fallon told Brosnan it was a long-time "dream" of his to play "GoldenEye" with the very person behind the game's protagonist. Brosnan agreed after warning the late-night host what had happened the last time he picked up a controller.

"I was no good at it. I played it once and shot myself in the foot," Brosnan said.

The subsequent 1-on-1 match between Fallon and Brosnan didn't last even a minute. Most of that minute consisted of Fallon trying to explain the controls to the Irish performer. The session ended rather quickly when Fallon got a hold of a handgun. As soon as he did, Fallon fired uncontrollably, taking out Brosnan's character within seconds. It just goes to show video games aren't for everyone, even if that someone is the very man who played the game's main character.
