Hogwarts Legacy: Why You Should Pick Hufflepuff (And Its Exclusive Mission)

For virtually any fan of "Harry Potter" who is also a gamer, the well-received "Hogwarts Legacy" has been a dream come true, despite the surrounding controversy. Not only does the game allow "Harry Potter" diehards to explore Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, and other iconic locations from the book and film series, but it also allows its players — using a player-created 5th-year student — to be sorted into one of Hogwarts' four Houses — Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw, or Hufflepuff.

The sorting process isn't a trivial one either. Not only does a player's sorting into one of these Houses offer users certain aesthetic touches, but it also offers unique experiences throughout the main story that are otherwise unavailable to those who are sorted into a different House. This not only provides gamers with tons of different experiences when playing through the game, but access to things such as other spells and, in some cases, locations as well. And of the four Houses in Hogwarts, Hufflepuff might offer players the coolest experience in "Hogwarts Legacy" due to its exclusive mission.

Mind you, there are some spoilers ahead for certain story beats, locations, and gameplay elements. If you have yet to pick up "Hogwarts Legacy" and don't want to know anything significant about the experience, it's probably best to come back to this later.

Joining Hufflepuff offers exclusive access to Patronus and Azkaban

First and foremost, if players wish to experience what Hufflepuff has to offer, they will have to be sorted into the House. After the opening section of the game, the player-created character will put on the Sorting Hat to determine which house is the best fit for them. The first question about either attending classes or exploring the world beyond Hogwarts is a non-factor in this process, so feel free to choose whichever you like. With the second question, players must choose "Loyalty" as their answer in order to be sorted into Hufflepuff.

So why be sorted into Hufflepuff? Well, for one, it's the only House that exposes players to Azkaban through an exclusive mission, the notorious prison that houses the worst criminals in the Wizarding World and is patrolled by the soul-sucking Dementors at this time. During this quest, players will also be able to see the use of the Patronus charm — a spell that brings about the form of an animal in order to counter the Dementors. It's an amazing look at one of the most iconic locations in all of "Harry Potter," as well as one of the IP's most popular spells, which doesn't appear anywhere else in "Hogwarts Legacy." Therefore, it might be worth being sorted in Hufflepuff in either your main save or another playthrough.
