Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom's Fuse Ability Is Already Going Off The Rails

"The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" is offering players an kind of freedom that is unprecedented, even within the expansive world of this franchise. As Link fights to save the world from the influence of Ganondorf, he takes on a number of new abilities. These powers have been greatly enjoyed by critics and gamers already, who have applauded the new ways in which the world is opened up at the press of a button. Ascend will allow Link to pass vertically through floors and ceilings, while Recall manipulates time to send enemies and objects backwards. Ultrahand allows him to magically lift massive objects and combine them together. The Fuse ability also allows Link to join disparate objects together into something more useful than their spare parts. So far, it seems like players are having the most fun experimenting with Fusions and Ultrahand constructs.

With a bit of concentration and some clever thinking on the part of the player, Link can create more powerful weapons — partly solving the problem of weapon durability — and impressive vehicles to get him from one hemisphere to the next. Some players have affectionately compared these abilities to something out of Garry's Mod, Valve's sandbox game that allows players to tinker with every aspect of the environment. There's just something so satisfying about taking an old sword and Fusing it to a big stick to create — a longer sword.

Within hours of the game's launch, players have continued to push the limits of their imagination when it comes to Fuse and Ultrahand. One player even managed to build the most hilariously NSFW vehicle we've ever seen in a Zelda game.

Link builds a mech with a burning groin

Link's making more than clubs and cars in "Tears of the Kingdom." One brilliant, twisted player has apparently created a vehicle that towers over Link and features a fire-spouting (ahemmember. It's unclear what exact parts the player used to make this monstrosity, but they even went through the trouble of giving it glowing eyes, turning the imposing mech's "face" into the dark fantasy equivalent of Plank from "Ed, Edd n Eddy." You can click here to see a gif of this bonkers creation for yourself (if you dare).

The flamethrowing appendage has become a huge hit on social media (what a sentence), with fans sharing memes celebrating its creation and the player who dreamed it up. Others have said that they've finally been convinced to buy the game, because apparently the title's rave reviews haven't quite been enough to tip the scales.

There's no doubt that this is only the first of many outside-the-box creations to take the internet by storm, and we simply can't wait to see what's next. "The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom" is available in stores and the Nintendo Switch Online shop, so you too can wave your Ultrahand in the air like you just don't care.
