Three Resident Evil Games Are Coming To Switch In May
Nintendo Switch owners are getting a three-pack of Resident Evil titles on May 21, according to Kotaku. The good news? They're some of the more celebrated entries in the series. The bad news? None of them are a port of the recent Resident Evil 2 remake.
The first, Resident Evil 0, was a prequel to the franchise's earlier games that actually debuted on a past Nintendo system — the Gamecube — in 2002. The second is another GameCube title, of sorts: a remake of the original Resident Evil, which also made its way to that platform in 2002. Finally, there's Resident Evil 4, a game that many would argue is the best in the series. RE4 was yet another GameCube launch exclusive in 2005 that, like so many of the Resident Evil games, eventually found its way onto every console imaginable.
Now here's where things get tricky. At launch, all three games will be available on the Nintendo eShop as separate purchases. As for retail releases, though, it appears that you'll only be able to get Resident Evil 0 and Resident Evil in a bundle called Resident Evil Origins Collection. There's no news yet on whether or not Resident Evil 4 will get a retail release for the Switch, and as of now, there's no word on pricing for any of the three games.
But hey, it's tough to complain about getting more things to play. And if you like ports and remakes of older games, you'll find plenty of them coming to the Switch in the months to come. Darksiders Warmastered Edition is scheduled for April 2. Final Fantasy 10/10-2 HD Remaster is set to arrive April 16. Final Fantasy 12: The Zodiac Age is coming on April 30. Saints Row: The Third — The Full Package drops on May 10. Assassin's Creed 3 Remastered will do battle with the aforementioned Resident Evil games on May 21. And a full reimagining of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is promised sometime before the end of 2019.
Now if we could only get a port of that RE2 remake.
