More Copies Of Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far Are Coming

It's been nearly impossible to track down a copy of Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far, which compiles everything prior to Kingdom Hearts 3 into one cost-effective PlayStation 4 package. Well fear not — according to VG247, Square Enix is bringing The Story So Far back for another run, and you'll see the collection in stores very soon.

Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far is essentially a combination of Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 Remix and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, which should cover you story-wise from the very beginning of the Kingdom Hearts saga all the way through Kingdom Hearts χ Back Cover, a CGI film released in 2017. What makes The Story So Far special — and the reason it flew off of store shelves — was because it offered all of this content in one place, and it did so at an incredible price.

For some reason, Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far was not offered as a discounted digital bundle, leaving Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5+2.5 Remix with a $49.99 price tag, and Kingdom Hearts HD 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue with cost of $59.99. The Story So Far sold for just $39.99, making it hands down the most inexpensive way to experience everything leading into Kingdom Hearts 3.

As you can imagine, we were not the only ones to see the value here. The Story So Far could rarely be found in stock anywhere, and the lack of supply eventually caused second-hand copies of the collection to skyrocket in price. So it's pretty fantastic to hear that Square Enix will be giving the game another go at retail, but we remain cautiously optimistic. After all, if Square Enix again can't supply enough copies of The Story So Far to meet demand, we'll wind up right back where we started — seeing "sold out" messages on retailer websites and inflated second-hand prices everywhere else. And no one wants that.

Hopefully Square Enix can press enough discs this time.

New copies of Kingdom Hearts: The Story So Far are set to hit stores on March 15. And, in some good news for other territories, Canada and Latin America will also get more stock on that date, and Europe will get a refill on March 29.
