Star Wars: The Old Republic Reveals New Onslaught Expansion Arriving In September

After a three-year gap, Star Wars: The Old Republic will receive a new expansion this September. Titled Onslaught, BioWare Austin has packed the update with new content and gameplay enhancements. The expansion, which is free for subscribers, features two new planets, a new Flashpoint, a new Operation, and shiny new abilities. "Onslaught puts you at the center of the reignited war between the Galactic Republic and the Sith Empire. Will you remain loyal to your faction or work to undermine and sabotage their war efforts? The choice is yours."

In Onslaught, the battle between the Galactic Republic and Sith Empire continues to rage. With resources dwindling, the Sith Empire prepares to strike a Republic shipyard on Corellia. Expecting the attack, the Republic scrambles to muster reinforcements. This search for allies takes the player to Onderon, a jungle planet ruled over by a newly crowned king whose allegiance remains untested.

A second location awaits, rife with its own dangers and opportunities. Nestled in a hollowed-out asteroid, Mek-Sha acts as an independent fueling station. This independence has turned the boomtown into a crossroads for the entire galaxy, a place where smugglers, mercenaries, and traders come to conduct business away from the watchful eyes of the warring factions. The settlement also houses a significant population of refugees.

Onslaught's new Flashpoint will take players back to Corellia for the finale of the expanded storyline. The new Operation, available at launch, takes place on Dxun, Onderon's largest moon. Another jungle-based location, players will have to contend with the Czerka Corporation and a group of fanatical Trandoshan hunters.

The update will also launch The Old Republic's new Tactical items system. Tactical items use a new gear slot and directly impact your abilities and playstyle. You can also pair them with new item set bonuses. Tactical items can be acquired through several avenues, including PvE and PvP actions, Galactic Command, and Crafting.
