Transistor Now Free In The Epic Games Store
Yet another well-received title is going free on the Epic Games Store. If you open up your Epic Launcher now and click on the Store link, you'll see Transistor at the top of your screen. And you know what that means — you don't have to pay for it.
Transistor was originally released on PlayStation 4 and PC in May 2014. Developer Supergiant Games followed that up with ports for iOS in 2015 and, more recently, a Nintendo Switch port last year. And the game has been pretty much universally praised at every turn. IGN gave it an 8 out of 10, calling it "a wildly smart action-rpg that places all of its trust into your intelligence." And GameSpot had nice things to say, too, stating with its 8 out of 10 score that "Transistor is always a good-looking game, but in these instances, it demonstrates a rare knack for combining its visuals and music to powerfully convey both narrative information and tone, driving the story forward with Red's own unwavering resolve."
So yes, you're getting a good one here. For all of the controversy surrounding Epic's store, and the company's willingness to absorb the internet's hate in its battle against Steam, you have to admit — Epic is giving away some choice titles.
The free games alone are worth installing the launcher. Is the platform lacking in features? Absolutely. Is exclusivity something that has no business appearing on PC? One could argue that. But we're not above using the Epic Games Store if it means free Transistor.
We also have news on the next free game coming to the store, thanks to today's update. World of Goo will be the next title up for grabs on May 2. As for Transistor, you can head over to the Epic Games Store and download that right now.
