Despite its limited hardware, an increasing number of developers have brought their games to the Nintendo Switch. Nintendo has shared the latest title slated to transition: The Outer Worlds from Obsidian Entertainment.

In today's announcement trailer, senior producer Matthew Singh offered a vague timeline for the Switch port. "Following the launch of the other platforms, The Outer Worlds will be coming to the Nintendo Switch," Singh confirmed.

The Outer Worlds is a first-person, open world RPG that transports you to a colony on the far edges of the galaxy. After your ship gets lost in transit, you wake up decades later at your destination to discover the settlement on the brink of destruction. You'll explore the greatest frontier to foil the conspiracy that threatens the Halcyon colony, assembling a crew, fighting monsters, and defining what type of person you are.

"At Obsidian, we really value player choice and consequence," Singh explained. "The Outer Worlds has a lot of it all the way through. We really want the player to be able to drive the storyline of the game and we do that by allowing you to have ultimate flexibility. We really like to play in kind of a morally gray area. We really don't have a lot of  binary kind of good-bad choices in this game. So, every action you might think is good is going to have some other consequences."

According to Singh, Obsidian and Private Division have partnered with Chinese developer Virtuos to create the Switch version of the game. Virtuos completed the Switch port of Dark Souls Remastered, which may offer some insight on the Switch launch date for The Outer Worlds. Dark Souls Remastered came to Switch five months after the title's initial launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If The Outer Worlds follows a similar cycle, you can expect it to hit Switch around March or April of next year.

The Outer Worlds releases on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on October 25, 2019.
