How Long Does It Take To Beat Fallout 4?

New vault, who dis? Fallout 4 puts you in the shoes of the only survivor of Vault 111, who exits to discover a world ravaged by nuclear war. It's your job to set things right and bring humanity back from the brink of extinction. But if you're here, it's probably because you want to know how time consuming that'll be.

How long does it take to beat Fallout 4? That depends on just how much of the Wasteland you intend on saving.

To gauge the length of Fallout 4's campaign, we used the trusty site How Long to Beat. Over 450 players submitted their times for the main story track in the game, and with a little math, the average comes out to around 26 hours. Of course, this being a Bethesda title (what's up, Elder Scrolls fans), there's plenty more to do if you wander off of the golden path and go looking for other things to do. Those who completed the story and did some extra stuff along the way found that Fallout 4 ended up taking about 79 hours to beat.

And then there are the try-hards. Just kidding; the devoted Vault 111 survivors, who want to follow every story line and help every single person they meet. For those people, the completionists, Fallout 4 is going to eat up roughly 152 hours. But that's not all. Several DLC expansions are available for Fallout 4 and can add between 24-44 hours to the game depending on how deep you want to go down the rabbit hole. So there is plenty of game here, both for those who are fine with what came at launch and those who want to expand on Fallout 4 with the premium content that was added later. Almost enough game to make you forget Fallout 76 ever happened.
