The Truth Behind The Dimitri Zero Mortal Kombat 11 Skin

Maybe you can't handle the truth? Or maybe you shouldn't hear it. Mortal Kombat 11 is rolling out a new Sub-Zero skin next week based on Belgian DJ Dimitri Vegas. It not only makes Sub-Zero look like Dimitri Vegas, but it makes him sound like Vegas, too. Which means Vegas had to voice the character. And you probably know where this is going.

The voice work on the Dimitri Zero Mortal Kombat 11 skin (as fans are calling it) is fifty shades of awful.

Gaymer XL over on Facebook uploaded a clip of the skinned character – which you can watch for yourself here — and it's as though Dimitri Vegas had never done a day of voice acting in his life. In all serious, he probably hadn't, though it certainly sounds like he's giving it his best shot. But his lines sound terribly out of place when juxtaposed with the professionals his Sub-Zero is speaking to. And they sound even more out of place when you hear them next to lines from the real Sub-Zero.

For what it's worth, some fans are having fun with the Dimitri Zero footage. One Redditor believes that, "The amount of raw disrespect that radiates off of you when playing with this skin is immeasurable," so it'll undoubtedly be a popular troll choice in online matches. Others state that it makes Ronda Rousey — whose Sonya Blade performance was widely panned — sound like "an established and accomplished voice actress." Ouch.

Whichever side you come down on matters not, though, because the Dimitri Zero skin is definitely on its way and there's nothing you can do about it. If you play Mortal Kombat 11 online, you're going to hear the voice of Dimitri Vegas at some point, reminding you he has the "ABILITY TO FREEZE."

And the best part? The skin will be a free download when it arrives on Aug. 22, so everyone will be able to use it. Hooray!
