Remnant: From The Ashes Free DLC Will Add New Dungeon And Game Mode

Gunfire Games and Perfect World Entertainment have announced the first DLC for their smash survival action shooter, Remnant: From the Ashes. The free updates will expand the world, adding a new game mode and dungeon among other content.

Adventure Mode arrives on September 12, allowing players to re-roll individual worlds. Once the update goes live, you can reach the new mode under "World Settings" from the World Stone in Ward 13. Select from Earth, Rhom, and Yaesha and embark on a dynamically generated adventures that conclude once you defeat the World Boss. Re-rolling does not affect the story or your progress through the main campaign but your character will keep any items or traits you pick up in Adventure Mode.

Leto's Lab, a new story DLC, comes to Remnant on September 19, allowing you to explore Research Station Alpha. Founded to study the red crystals, head researcher Leto Apostolakis theorized that he could use the mysterious stones to bridge space-time, a line of reasoning that eventually led to the unlock of the World Stone on Ward 16. 

"Leto's experiments quickly diverged from their initial goal as he started using the World Stones to fuel a series of dubious experiments," revealed the announcement. "The lab continued operating for months after the Root invaded, but was ultimately forced to evacuate when one of Leto's experiments went awry."

Leto's Lab adds a new dungeon that spawns dynamically on Earth. A mixture of light puzzles and intense combat, the dungeon expands on Remnant's setting, revealing more of its mysterious backstory. Players will also have a new boss to face.

Free DLC acts as the cherry on top of an already satisfying if repetitive gameplay experience. "The first 10 hours are challenging and intriguing, leaving you voracious for more loot, more bosses, and more traits," wrote Game Informer's Daniel Tack. "After that, some of the wonder vanishes as you relive past glories rather than continuing to forge new ones."

Remnant: From the Ashes is available now on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Microsoft Windows for $39.99.
