How Long Does It Take To Beat Code Vein?

Dark Souls but with vampires; it sounds intriguing enough, right? That's essentially the promise of Code Vein, the new action RPG from Bandai Namco that is set to release tomorrow, Sept. 27. Early reviews are starting to come out now, however, which gives us the chance to see how long it takes to beat Code Vein's campaign.

The verdict? It's about what you'd expect for a game in the action RPG genre.

According to GameSpotCode Vein's main story can be wrapped up in roughly 23 hours. The folks over at IGN, on the other hand, noted that the campaign in Code Vein takes around 30 hours to complete. If we average the two times out, we can say it'll take the average player between 26 and 27 hours to complete Code Vein's story in full.

The question is, will you want to?

The reviews for Code Vein have been mixed to say the least. And on one hand, that's somewhat disappointing. We were really hoping Code Vein would knock it out of the park because the game's premise sounded interesting. On the other hand, though, it's not like we're starving for more games to play over here. We're about to enter the busiest time of the year as far as releases are concerned, and with blockbusters like Call of Duty: Modern WarfareDeath Stranding, and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order on the way, we still need time to finish all of the great games that have already come out recently.

You'll have to ask yourself if Code Vein is a game you're willing to make room in your schedule for. After all, 26 to 27 hours is not a short amount of time. We just got Control last month. The Link's Awakening remake just arrived. Destiny 2: Shadowkeep launches next week. At least if you play Code Vein and find it's not for you, there are plenty of other games waiting to take its place.

Code Vein comes to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Sept. 27, 2019.
