The Legend Of Zelda: Link's Awakening - How To Get The Bow

Finding the bow in The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening is easy. Link's second-most iconic weapon will pop up in the Mabe Village shop as soon as you buy your first set of bombs from the shopkeeper. Actually getting the bow is a different story. While the bow goes on sale early in the game, it costs a staggering 980 rupees, which is probably way more than you have stashed away.

So, you have a couple of options. You can roam around Koholint Island and farm rupees by killing enemies and slashing at bushes, although that's time consuming and boring. You can also ignore the bow for the time being and get on with the campaign. That's the better option. Assuming that you're diligent about destroying vegetation and opening every treasure chest you can, you'll end up with more than enough money for the bow by the time that you're about halfway through the game.

If you're impatient, however, there's a third alternative: the Trendy Game. One of the rewards that you can earn at Link's Awakening's claw game is a purple gem worth 50 rupees, which is a 40 rupee return-on-investment, assuming that you can get the prize consistently every time that you play. It'll take some practice, but the purple rupee is one of the easier prizes to nab. Once you have the system down, grab the purple rupee, leave and enter the Trendy Game, and repeat until your wallet is full.

Finally, if you really don't want to do any work, you can steal the bow from the shop. Yes, the shopkeeper will kill you the next time that you stop by, and yes, everyone else on Koholint will call you a thief, but you'll also save almost a thousand rupees. Who says that crime doesn't pay?
