How Long Does It Take To Beat Death Stranding?

The release of Death Stranding marks Hideo Kojima's first solo title since his break from Konami back in 2015 and fans have been eagerly awaiting it. With Norman Reedus as the main protagonist, it's almost as if Kojima fans are getting the game they were promised but never received from P.T. But for everyone excited to play through the story and learn everything there is to learn about Death Stranding, you're probably wondering how big of a time commitment it's going to be. So, exactly how long does it take to beat Death Stranding? It all depends on what kind of gamer you are.

There is obviously a big time difference between someone who wants to get through the story as quickly as possible so they know how Death Stranding ends, and someone who wants to complete every side mission and get all the achievements. According to the website How Long to Beat, a player interested in playing through the main story and the extra side missions will be looking at about 63 hours of gameplay. This doesn't take into account a completionist run where every achievement is unlocked, a feat that takes around 100 hours according to GameSpot reviewers. For the casual player who just wants to get through the story and say they finished the main game, you're looking at something like 50 hours.

Considering how much anticipation has been building for Death Stranding and Kojima's debut as a solo developer, it looks like players will be getting their money's worth. Traversing a post-apocalyptic United States in an attempt to link the scattered colonies to the Chiral Network, gamers will have the opportunity to fight BTs and utilize their connection to a Bridge Baby. Kojima has stated that the game is about the isolation of humanity and the importance of finding a way to connect with those around you. Given Kojima's track record for making iconic games, Death Stranding will be a fantastic experience no matter how you decide to play it.

Death Stranding is currently available on PlayStation 4 and will come to PC in summer 2020.
