Logan Paul Helps Pewds Throw Jake Under The Bus

The Paul brothers, Logan and Jake, are YouTubers who first gained notoriety on the video platform Vine. Both parlayed their success on that now defunct platform into huge followings on Google's video site. Both have ginned up their fair share of controversy since coming into the spotlight. Logan, for what it's worth, seems to have toned things down a bit; perhaps adding a few years onto his life added a little maturity, too. Jake, however — Jake is still capturing a whole bunch of negative press, and surprisingly, his older brother agrees with some of it.

We'll get to that in a bit. First, let's take a look at what people have been saying about Jake.

In a video posted shortly after his return to YouTube, PewDiePie devoted almost 15 minutes to looking at Jake Paul's current situation. PewDiePie ripped Jake's "Financial Freedom Movement," which is basically a mentorship program for those who want to make money online. He mocked Jake for criticizing the U.S. education system — which Jake dropped out of — by pointing out his poor grammar and misspellings. And PewDiePie stated in no uncertain terms that he believes Jake's new enterprise is an "influence scam."

"Jake Paul is the kind of celebrity that doesn't have any real value," PewDiePie said, "so all they do is they project this image of wealth, and now he's monetizing that to get more money."

Getting positively trashed by PewDiePie would be bad enough for most people. Believe it or not, though, that's not the only social media smackdown Jake was on the receiving end of recently.

Over the weekend, Jake Paul found himself staying in a suite in Las Vegas. As fate would have it, former One Direction star Zayn Malik was also in the same hotel, and was actually staying in a suite close to Jake's. According to ES, Jake invited Zayn to hang out, but — for whatever reason — Zayn declined the invitation. That's when things got really ugly, as Jake took to Twitter in order to call out Zayn for his perceived slight.

"almost had to clap up zane from 1 direction because he is a little guy and has an attitude and basically told me to f— off for no reason when I was being nice to him..." Jake tweeted. "zane ik you're reading this... stop being angry cause u came home alone to ur big ass hotel room hahaha."

Shortly afterward, Jake got the Twitter beat-down of a lifetime — not from Zayn, but from Zayn's girlfriend, model Gigi Hadid.

"Lol cause he doesn't care to hang w you and your embarrassing crew of YouTube groupies ..?" Hadid responded. "Home alone with his best friends like a respectful king cause he has me, sweetie. Unbothered by your irrelevant ugly ass. Go to bed ..."

Ouch.

Now we know Jake said and did some pretty stupid things, but we've yet to hear how his brother Logan feels about the situation. The bond of brotherhood is strong, right? Surely Logan would come to Jake's defense and try to get everyone off of his back, right? Not so much.

"Bagged and tagged!" Logan exclaimed after reading Gigi's tweet out loud on his Impaulsive podcast. "I woke up Sunday, I saw this, and I said, 'No, not like this bro.'"

Logan went on to talk about how he and his friends had been talking with Jake about "leveling up," which we presume means bettering his behavior. The podcast also hit on how Logan and his business partners would react to Hadid's tweet the next day, and it was ultimately decided they wouldn't. There was too much risk involved — it was a "fat L," as Logan put it — so the cavalry wouldn't be coming to save the day.

Long story short: Jake made his bed, and now he had to sleep in it.

"I did kinda snap on him via text," Logan said of his brother. "He's just in a bit of a limbo period in his life."

For now, that's where the story ends. It's honestly tough to say whether or not Jake Paul will land on the wrong side of internet beef again anytime soon. We don't know if his Financial Freedom Movement initiative will come under more scrutiny from YouTubers like PewDiePie. We do know, however, that Jake's brother Logan knows that Jake needs to step it up and get things under control.

We'll be sure to keep an eye on things and let you know if that happens.
