I'm what many would call a "cozy gamer." Sure, I might have fallen in love with video games playing the original Diablo on a computer the size of a microwave, but these days it's all about Dreamlight Valley and Tiny Glade, with a side of Split/Fiction. Gaming normally takes place in bed, as the only free time I have as a mother of a special needs child happens just before I crash. But I have been wanting a bit more of an experience when I game, looking to feel fully immersed in the moment, and that's where Linkind and its line of innovative smart lighting products came into play.

I'd been searching for months already (my fellow buyer's remorse sufferers get me here) for the perfect hexagonal panels for my non-speaking autistic son, as I had seen them advertised as great for children who are overly stimulated. Say no more: a product that would give me a great gaming experience while also soothing my little man's stimming? I was offered the opportunity to test out Linkind's EP6 Smart Hexagon Panels, and the second those bad boys switched on, the glow on my son's face matched the iridescence sparkling above him on our wall.

I received three sets of Linkind EP6 Smart Hexagon Panels (7 to a box, 21 panels total), one Linkind ET6 Smart TV Backlight, one Linkind EL8 Smart Light Strip, and one Linkind EN6 Smart Neon Rope Light. The Hexagon Panels were the most daunting during unboxing simply because there are so many pieces.

I have to admit, I was nervous to get started. Thankfully, I have a patient husband, but he ended up being as disposable as the peel-off strips on the Smart TV Backlight. The Smart Hexagon Panels come with one cardboard placement panel to put on your wall that allows you to line up everything seamlessly. I was able to handle all of this on my own and was impressed with the placement guides. After attaching the base of the Hexagon Panels to the center of the guide pieces, I removed the cardboard and began attaching the connector strips from one panel base to another. Linkind's Any-Side Connect allows the user to link from any of the panel's six edges so you can build whatever shape your heart desires. Additionally, up to 21 panels can be controlled with just one remote, meaning you don't need extra controllers sitting around on your side table. Within minutes I was finished with setup and had snapped all the Hexagon Panels into place.

Once your panels are set up, the AiDot app's Layout Detect feature automatically pulls your exact design into the app. It maps your panel in real time and allows you to control the hexagons with the tap or swipe of a finger.

The ET6 Smart TV Backlight was almost too easy to install. After setting up four L-shaped brackets on each corner of the TV, the backlight snapped into place and glided along the edges. A simple snip on two easily identifiable cut lines on the light strip concluded the set-up, and my husband quickly remarked, "That's it?" I shared the sentiment because surely this would have been more complex, no? Well, it wasn't. It was just that easy. Also easy to install were the EN6 Rope Light and EL8 Smart Light Strip, which we used in other areas of our entertainment room upstairs. (I didn't snag an original photo of all the lights together, but you can get the idea, thanks to Linkind's image below.)

The coolest thing about the whole process was Linkind's ImmerSpace™ function, which can be accessed through the company's easy-to-use app. ImmerSpace™ allows the product user to sync all of their Linkind products together, syncing up beats and pulses from music to movies. ImmerSpace™ has two modes: ImmerSpace Music and ImmerSpace TV. The former uses your phone's microphone to pick up music and set the lights of all the Linkind entertainment lighting together. It's like your own private nightclub if you're tired of paying for bottle service. Listening to the "Encanto" soundtrack was such a fun experience, as my son was simply dazed watching all of the lights work together as if we were inside Madrigal's Casita.

My other son and my special needs son were mesmerized watching me play a little bit of Split/Fiction on the screen. "Wait, how does it make the colors match the screen?" my oldest kept asking over and over. As we went back and forth between the science-fiction world and the fantasy world, the colors changed seamlessly. I might have died a few times looking away from the screen to watch their faces with their jaws on the floor at the synchronicity of the whole experience. (Ok, I also died a few times because I forgot which side of the screen I was playing on.) The credit for this magic belongs to ImmerSpace TV, which allows you to individually select EP6 panels to be individually positioned and selectively synced to quadrants of your television.

After dinner every night, my boys immediately want to go upstairs to "play in the lights." We turn off all the overhead lights and bask in the glow. We have fun passing around the app so everyone can enjoy making their own custom lighting designs. Not only can you change the color of each hexagon, but you can change the colors within them using the AuraScape™ RGBIC technology. Each hexagon has six different segments that can all be a different color. These are easily changed in the app by swiping your finger across every segment you want to change. This allows for a more refined lighting experience, as the colors blend smoothly and effortlessly. This really enhanced the ambiance of my entertainment room and was a joy to observe.

I now have an incredible gaming environment that I can set up to be as vibrant or as calm as my game (and mood) desires. And my son has a new way to release and rest as he gazes at the Hexagon Smart Panels as if they were the night sky. It can be hard to be my son sometimes as when you're constantly overstimulated, it's hard to operate. My husband and I are so excited to find a product that helps him hone his senses.
