5 PS4 Video Games That Are Worth A Fortune Today
Upon its launch in 2013, Sony's PlayStation 4 reasserted the company's commanding lead over its Microsoft direct competitor, the Xbox One. The PS4 became the company's second best-selling console of all time, selling over 102 million units to surpass the original PlayStation's sales. This was bolstered by a line of acclaimed and popular video game releases for the platform, from multiplatform releases to a whole line of console exclusives. Several of these titles have seen their price through various resellers skyrocket considerably since their original release.
It's those games with heightened resale prices that we're highlighting with this particular article. From collector's editions around widely hyped releases to limited production runs driving scarcity, these games are each worth quite a bit of money. But if you're a big time video game collector with an interest in the PlayStation 4 era, these are titles you'll want to add to that collection.
Here are five PS4 video games that are worth a fortune today on the resale market.
Rock Band 4 (Band-in-a-Box Bundle)
Like "Guitar Hero" before it, "Rock Band" is a game series that always relied heavily on its peripheral controllers. The 2015 title "Rock Band 4" was an effort to bring the gameplay back to the basics after the more ambitiously experimental "Rock Band 3." As with prior releases, the game came with a whole box set of peripherals for players to live out their rockstar dreams. The Band-in-a-Box Bundle came with a branded guitar, drum kit, and microphone as part of its big release.
"Rock Band 4" didn't exactly reignite the mainstream love of rhythm games, currently standing as the last title in the series. But that distinction may have helped inflate its resale prices, particularly the Band-in-a-Box Bundle that came with the game. A mint condition copy of this full set can sell for over $1,400, while a complete set in lesser condition can still sell for over $500. Keep in mind, "Rock Band 4" has been digitally delisted, along with its music library, since October 2025 unless you've purchased the songs online already.
Call of Duty: Black Ops III (Juggernog Edition)
Before Activision bungled its "Call of Duty: Black Ops" subseries with "Black Ops 7," the subseries was firing on all cylinders during the PS4 era. For the purposes of this list, the most expensive title in the franchise released for the PS4 is the first for the console, 2015's "Call of Duty: Black Ops III." One of the more enduring elements of the game is that it had one of the best Zombies Mode of any "Call of Duty" game, which was reflected in its special edition release. The most premium physical release version for the game was named after the mode's drinkable powerup, Juggernog.
The "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" Juggernog Edition was a truly impressive set for fans to shell out for. The centerpiece of this edition is a functioning Juggernog-branded minifridge, complete with coasters and other accoutrement. A mint condition version of this edition sells for over $1,400, while loose versions can still sell for nearly $700. Still a highlight in the long-running Activision franchise, "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" celebrates its strengths through the Juggernog Edition.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard (Collector's Edition)
After the middling response to "Resident Evil 6," 2017's "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" effectively revived Capcom's survival horror franchise. The game is the first mainline title in the series played from a first-person perspective, heightening the overall immersion of the experience. This helped Capcom reestablish "Resident Evil" as the scariest horror game franchise with some truly intense moments, as new protagonist Ethan Winters confronted the murderous Baker family. To commemorate the game's release, Capcom pulled out all the stops for the collector's edition of the eagerly anticipated title.
The "Resident Evil 7: Biohazard" Collector's Edition contains a replica of the Baker mansion that acts as a music box, with a lithograph of the family and a finger-shaped USB drive also included. The game itself is part of the package, of course, with an exclusive steelbook case to house the disc. A mint condition copy of this collector's edition set can sell for over $1000, while even loose copies sell for over $750. Capcom would continue to put out impressive collector's editions for later "Resident Evil" games, but "Resident Evil 7" is the priciest of the PS4 releases.
Horizon Zero Dawn (Thunderjaw Collection)
Among the best post-apocalyptic video games for the PlayStation 4 is "Horizon Zero Dawn," which was released in 2017. The game is set in a world where machines have grown sentient and now roam the ruins of civilization like wild animals. Among these cybernetic creatures is the thunderjaw, a predatory mechanical beast that resembles a dinosaur that players encounter throughout the game. This mechanical monster serves as the centerpiece for the premium physical release meant as a standalone accompaniment to the game.
The "Horizon Zero Dawn" Thunderjaw Collection came with a detailed thunderjaw figure as well as lithograph prints and a cloth map of the game's overworld. Interestingly, the game didn't come with a physical copy of the game itself, but it served as a companion piece to the title. Regardless of the inclusion of the actual software, or lack thereof, a mint condition collection sells for $800, while a loose set sells for over $450. A precursor to a trend of premium editions not actually containing the game itself, "Horizon Zero Dawn" Thunderjaw Collection is still an impressive release.
Nier: Automata (Black Box Edition)
Square Enix's "Nier" series has brought intense sci-fi hack-and-slash action since 2010, with the second installment being "Nier: Automata." Launched in 2017, there were several versions of the physical release, with the most expensive being the Black Box Edition. The theme came from one of the core concepts from the game's narrative and its world of android warriors battling extraterrestrial machines. Each of the android warriors are powered by a black box, effectively serving as these characters' mechanical hearts.
Coming in a black box like the ones seen in the game, "Nier: Automata" Black Box Edition is a must-have for hardcore fans. This set comes with an artbook, a soundtrack CD, a figurine of the protagonist, and a steelbook of the game itself. A mint copy of this edition sells for nearly $800, while a complete set in lesser condition sells for over $500. One of the best value buys considering everything that comes with the set, "Nier: Automata" Black Box Edition is a great collection.
