How Long Does It Take To Beat Assassin's Creed: Valhalla?

Lately, Ubisoft games have seemingly subscribed to the belief that bigger equals better. Many recent Ubisoft releases have been open world titles that try to stretch out their lengths to justify the digital square mileage. Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is no different.

The latest entry in the franchise, Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, brings players to the often-romanticized age of Vikings and plops them down in a time when the Norse warriors locked swords with ancient Brits. In the game, home is where the heart is, and players have to forge a new life for their Viking comrades in an unfriendly land. Gamers spend time creating and expanding a settlement, making allies and enemies with the British locals, and participating in side activities such as drinking mead and petting dogs. But the question remains how long players will spend in the game.

Ubisoft's last few Assassin's Creed games have been extensively long. The previous entry, Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, is infamous for its 100+ hour length, and before that, Assassin's Creed: Origins clocked in just shy of 90 hours. Where does Assassin's Creed: Valhalla, a game that has been compared to The Witcher 3, fall? Let's find out.

A long and Thor-ough story

Since Assassin's Creed: Valhalla is a Viking life simulator (with the added bonus of the series' iconic Hidden Blade), the game takes you on a semi-guided tour of medieval Britain. You build up your settlement, turn enemies into allies (and allies into enemies), and occasionally leap back to the modern world. Valhalla is an Assassin's Creed game, after all, and it will last you quite a long time.

According to Screen Rant, if you just stick to the main narrative, Valhalla will give most players between 40 and 45 hours' worth of content. If you really want to speed things through, you can probably beat the game faster. However, if you want the full Viking experience, you should participate in side activities such as town-building. general exploration. and World Events (which have replaced side quests). Taking the time to smell the roses — and turn giant wolves into pelts — will increase your average playtime to anywhere between 60 and 80 hours.

GameSpot, meanwhile, estimated that the average player who inserts a healthy dose of side content into their story progression will take approximately 60 hours to finish the game's "critical path." According to the site, you can knock off about 85% of everything there is to do in approximately 65 hours, give or take a few side objectives and hours.

In for a penny, in for a pounding

If you want to squeeze Assassin's Creed: Valhalla dry of every bit of content, you will get far more than your money's worth. The game has plenty of landmass to explore, tattoos to collect, and fish to catch. However, you should only try to 100% complete the game if you don't mind letting it dominate your attention for the better part of a year.

Screen Rant estimated that scouring Valhalla clean will take players over 100 or even 120 hours, as players will have plenty of missions to finish, collectibles to gather, relics to raid, and animals to hunt. Meanwhile, PCGamesN roughly agreed with Screen Rant's estimates, although the site put its prediction closer to 100 hours. These claims are slightly at odds with previous reported statements that Valhalla wouldn't be the "longest or biggest game in the series." Although, it could be argued that since Assassin's Creed: Odyssey also requires over 100 hours to fully complete, Valhalla isn't the "longest or biggest" since it is roughly as extensive as Odyssey.
