Mass Effect: Andromeda Trailer And Box Art Revealed
At long last, we finally have the debut trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda, as well as a look at the box art for both the standard and deluxe editions.
In celebration of November 7, which has been dubbed N7 Day by BioWare, the cinematic reveal trailer for Mass Effect: Andromeda has been unveiled, giving us a glimpse into the adventure ahead of us in the Andromeda Galaxy.
The voiceover in the intro tells us that the heroes of the tale were asleep for hundreds of years, likely in some kind of stasis in order to survive a trip to the farthest reaches of the Andromeda galaxy to search for a new home. Gone is the Normandy of old and we're given a peek at the Hyperion, just before our heroes awake to some hostility. It seems we'll be taking control of a player character dubbed "The Pathfinder," a title that hints that we're going to be doing a lot of exploration in the name of humanity's survival.
Other than the smattering of a few alien allies, such as an Asari, and a few action sequences, not much is revealed about the story. We're glad to see that all the footage was captured in-engine and some of the fight scenes look phenomenal, especially that large mechanical beast that puts thresher maws to shame.
We'll have to wait to see more from Andromeda in terms of story and characters, but it's looking impressive for now. In the meantime, you can pre-order through Best Buy and decide whether or not you really want to shell out the extra $10 for the Deluxe Edition. You can also sign up for the Andromeda Initiative here. The Initiative appears to be just another mailing list, but the description states that registrants will "be among the first contacted to receive critical mission information, special training opportunities, and will also be eligible for rewards upon program completion." This program could likely lead to in-game rewards once Andromeda is released in spring 2017. Until then, keep rewatching the trailer and hope Andromeda becomes one of the best games of 2017.
