Xbox Game Pass Starts 2021 Off Strong With Seven New Games

Xbox has announced the newest games to become available for Game Pass this month. In addition to six new titles and a season update, Xbox is also offering a special deal for Game Pass Ultimate where gamers can pay only $1 for the first three months until January 25. Those who are taking advantage of the deal will have some exciting new options to check out.

Soccer fans can look forward to a new season update for eFootball PES 2021, which offers an online co-op mode, head-to-head matches, and Matchday Mode, which allows players to participate in matches based on real-life rivalries and events. The sports game favorite has received mostly above average reviews since its September 2020 release, scoring 73 on Metascore.

Injustice 2 is another big title coming to Game Pass on Jan. 7, the sequel to the hit DC fighting game Injustice: Gods Among Us. Although the game's storyline is a strange, convoluted one that has Batman and allies fighting against a villainous Superman, it's the pitting of hero against hero in a Mortal Kombat-style battle royale with a variety of environments that makes the game so fun to play. Injustice 2 keeps the mechanics of the original game and adds in the Gear System, which rewards players with loot and the ability to level up their character's stats.

The Little Acre is the last new game to be added on Game Pass's Jan. 7 lineup. It's an animated action-adventure about a young girl and her father going on a magical journey. The game comes from indie studio Pewter Games which is based in Dublin, Ireland, and according to the Press Kit for The Little Acre, the game started out as a project for a Master's degree, and it is also the first Xbox exclusive to come from Ireland.

There are four more titles coming later this month for Xbox Game Pass, including Neoverse, Torchlight III, What Remains of Edith Finch, and YIIK: A Postmodern RPG. Neoverse combines strategy and deck-building to action-adventure gameplay, while Torchlight III is a continuation of the Runic Games dungeon crawler series. What Remains of Edith Finch follows the story of a young woman exploring her family's history, and YIIK: A Postmodern RPG has players solving the mystery of a vanishing woman.

It looks like Xbox's Game Pass is off to a good start in 2021. Hopefully this strong January lineup will make up for Game Pass' disappointing December selection.
