The Switch Version Of Super Mario 3D World Will Include These New Features

Continuing the celebration of Super Mario Bros.' 35th anniversary, Nintendo recently announced that Super Mario 3D World is coming to Switch in February, and fans couldn't be more excited. While the WiiU is now basically obsolete, the return of the popular game which originated with the console was a smart move on Nintendo's part. Along with the Bowser's Fury add-on, Super Mario 3D World for Switch will have some new features for fans to check out.

A video released by Nintendo on YouTube showed an overview of the new version coming to Switch. The trailer shows the return of platform-style courses, the cat suit power-up, and four-player co-op. Now, fans can play the game with friends online with a subscription to the Switch Online membership. The game also will feature a Snapshot mode which allows players to take photos during gameplay, as well as apply filters. Stickers can also be found throughout different courses in the game and used to jazz up photos.

The biggest new addition to Super Mario 3D World is, of course, Bowser's Fury, an all-new adventure that features a giant, rage-fueled, fire-spewing Bowser. Players get to team up with Bowser Jr. (also available as a playable character in two-player co-op) while exploring a world of cats and collecting Cat Shines, which are imperative to moving forward in the game. Bowser Jr. is armed with a paintbrush that appears to be used both as a weapon and as a tool for finding hidden objects.

The cute and cuddly cat world doesn't stay that way for long, however ... when Bowser appears, the cute times are over as the behemoth Koopa King enacts his furious destruction across the land. With glowing eyes and a literal flaming-red mane, players will see why the add-on is named Bowser's Fury – although what has Bowser so peeved is anyone's guess.

The only way to defeat the colossal Koopa is to collect enough Cat Shines to unlock an item called the Giga Bell. The Giga Bell will allow Mario to transform into a giant cat and therefore have the power to meet Bowser head-on. This battle promises to be a showdown of epic proportions ... almost literally.

Fans can purchase Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury on Feb. 12, and they also have the option to play it on the new Mario Red and Blue Switch, which goes on sale the same day.
