Jimmy Fallon Debuts Breath Of The Wild Gameplay On Nintendo Switch

Reggie Fils-Aime and Shigeru Miyamoto appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon to debut the first footage of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild gameplay running on the Nintendo Switch.

Jimmy Fallon is a self-proclaimed nerd and huge fan of Nintendo, known for inviting members of Nintendo as guests on his show in order to preview some of the company's latest and greatest work. On Dec. 7, Fallon had Reggie Fils-Aime, the president and COO of Nintendo of America, on his show to debut gameplay from the iOS-exclusive Super Mario Run.

As a surprise, Fils-Aime informed Fallon that Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario and a host of other Nintendo properties, was in the crowd to cheer him on. Not only that, but he informed Fallon that he had brought the Nintendo Switch for him to try, loaded up with The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Fils-Aime demonstrated how you could play the game as freely as you want. In the demo, he showed how Link could have simply climbed off a building in order to fight some bokoblins, or how he could have pushed a boulder onto some bombs to make them explode instead.

"I'm freaking out!" exclaimed Fallon throughout the demo, as he was shown how to detach the Switch from its dock in order to play it on the go. He tried his hand at taking down some bokoblins himself, before surfing down a hill on Link's shield.

Check out the lengthy video to see both Super Mario Run and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild in action and look forward to more news about the Switch to be announced in January, a few months ahead of its March release. Maybe we'll even see Nintendo drop some details that will make the Switch seem even better than both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
