Everything You Need To Know About World Of Warcraft: Shadowlands - Chains Of Domination

As is the case with many video games in this day and age, World of Warcraft: Shadowlands was pushed back from October 2020 to November that same year. In an unusual turn of events, Blizzard fans actually celebrated this delay, as they were more concerned with the expansion's quality than the timeliness of its release. Fortunately, the wait wasn't too long, and when it launched, it gave fans of the series even more reason to play standard World of Warcraft over Classic

For long-time World of Warcraft fans and new players who survived the zombie plague that preceded Shadowlands, there is another update on the horizon. First announced at BlizzConline 2021, Shadowlands will receive a content update known as Chains of Domination

Game Director Ion Hazzikostas describes the Shadowlands expansion as "the one that's nearest and dearest to [his] heart," so any updates are likely to be a labor of love. With that said, Chains of Domination has a lot of potential for delivering a satisfying experience to fans of the series. This is everything you need to know about World of Warcraft: Shadowlands – Chains of Domination.

Chains of Domination pits you against the Jailer

According to game designer Jeremy Feasel, in World of Warcraft: Shadowlands – Chains of Domination, the four covenant factions will unite "for the first time in years," to go up against the mighty Jailer. The World of Warcraft website explains that the Jailer is seeking to learn the mysteries of "The First Ones," and does so by securing a land known as Korthia, City of Secrets.

The update's primary conflict will take place directly in the Maw, where fans will face new opponents in unexplored territories and reap all-new rewards. Some of the areas you will encounter in Chains of Domination may look familiar, as they were unwelcoming zones you could have seen before but were unable to traverse at great length. With the cooperation of all the covenant groups, these areas will be more accessible.

Joining your allies, you will confront the Jailer on his own turf. The Sanctum of Domination is a massive raid where you will face 10 bosses, including Tarragrue, Kel'Thuzad, the Jailer's eye, and more. In the end, you will go toe-to-toe with Sylvanas Windrunner herself.

Feasel promises that the final battle's conclusion will significantly impact Shadowlands moving forward.

Mega-dungeons return in Chains of Domination

An update that's sure to please World of Warcraft fans is the return of the mega-dungeon. Feasel explains that this mega-dungeon will be a city of trade known as Tazavesh: the Veiled Market, home of "the Brokers." This is where players can learn more about these mysterious beings and where they will also be introduced to previously unknown types of Brokers.

Gamers will be brandishing weapons at various forms of Brokers, such as assassins and guards with four arms. Later on, you will engage in a chase as you attempt to stop a Broker from wielding the power of a pilfered artifact. You will go up against eight bosses throughout this mega-dungeon, including a creature known as the "Infinite Pirate Dragon."

Feasel says that "in Chains of Domination, [the mega-dungeon] will be available as Mythic [difficulty level] only, for now." It is unclear if this will change, but players who dare to challenge these mega-dungeons will most likely reap great rewards.
