Hitman 3: Seven Deadly Sins - What We Know So Far

Despite a rough launch, Hitman 3 wowed players and critics alike. With plenty of Easter eggs and secrets to discover, fans are still investigating every nook and cranny of the assassination-centered game. Even though players are still enjoying Hitman 3's base offering, there's already new content on the way from IO Interactive.

The story of Hitman 3 only takes about 8-10 hours to blast through, but people love the series for its replayability. It's possible to replay missions dozens of times on different difficulties or to earn achievements, which offers hours of additional hijinks. Now, players have even more content and quests to look forward to.

That's right: the DLC rollout has begun. Seven Deadly Sins, an expansion series for Hitman 3 broken into seven parts, will kick off shortly. With the initial launch date right around the corner, there's plenty of details about Seven Deadly Sins that fans want to know.

What is the release date for Hitman 3: Seven Deadly Sins?

The first episode of Hitman 3: Seven Deadly Sins, an Escalation themed around the sin of Greed, will arrive on March 30, 2021. Players will be able to bring certain items between the three stages of the first episode, using specific strategies to move through the settings. "Act 1: Greed" will be available for $5, or as a bundle with all seven planned episodes for $29.99.

March 30 also ushers in the first "Season of Sin," which is essentially a name change for IO's planned monthly content roadmaps. These Seasons of Sin include "the release of new content, both paid ... and free for existing owners. A Season of Sin can last anywhere between 4-6 weeks and include Escalations, Featured Contracts and Elusive Targets."

The developer plans to release the full breakdown of the new content planned for Season of Greed in early April. Even if players don't want to purchase the Seven Deadly Sins DLC, it seems they'll still have fresh additions to look forward to.

What kind of content will be in Hitman 3: Seven Deadly Sins?

Each of the seven episodes planned for Seven Deadly Sins will focus on a different mortal sin and feature sin-themed content, like the Rapacious Suit, Greedy Little Coin, and Devil's Cane in the "Greed" episode. These items are only available in Seven Deadly Sins, and have special uses within the episode, such as Greed's Escalations involving transferable items. Other items, like the themed outfits, are just for fun. Agent 47 sure looks sharp, though. Additionally, Seven Deadly Sins will include new contracts for players to complete.

There's also new story content, with a different sort of plot to entice players. The trailer for the first episode of Seven Deadly Sins seems to indicate that Agent 47 will journey into his own mind to explore the motivations for his career. The short trailer features a disembodied, robotically static voice telling Agent 47 to examine his motivations and think of his life up until this point. All the while, Agent 47 struts in a handsome gold and black suit, a gold cane in his hand.

What new features can players expect in Hitman 3: Seven Deadly Sins?

Aside from including themed weapons and outfits, fans aren't sure what Seven Deadly Sins will offer in terms of new features. So far, IO Interactive has kept the details of what will be bundled into Seven Deadly Sins a secret. Players don't know exactly what kinds of contracts or missions will be available in Seven Deadly Sins, or if the updates will bring any quality of life improvements or new gameplay features. It is known, however, that the developers of Seven Deadly Sins want to reinvent content they already have.

In an interview with TheGamer, Forest Swartout Large, executive producer of Hitman 3, explained, "We're more looking at using existing locations and reimagining them, twisting them." It sounds like you can look forward to fresh takes on familiar settings in Seven Deadly Sins. While IO is mostly keeping other features under wraps, you at least won't have to wait long to find out more.

However, Seasons of Sin will add more Elusive Targets, Escalations, and Featured Contracts to Hitman 3, all for free. While Elusive Targets allow players the chance to assassinate custom characters for a limited time, Escalations ask players to take out a target while also completing increasingly difficult side objectives. Featured Contracts put fan made contracts online for everyone to enjoy and compete with. All these services will continue to be updated during Seven Deadly Sins.
