Dishonored 2 Update Adds Mission Select And Custom Difficulty

The supernatural assassination game Dishonored 2 is getting an update that adds Custom Difficulty settings and a Mission Restart/Select option.

Gary Steinman, Global Content Lead at Bethesda, posted the details of Game Update 2 to the official Bethesda website and said that it would hit the PC version first as a Steam Beta on Jan. 18. The full release of the update will become available for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Jan. 23.

The Custom Difficulty setting will allow players to fine tune their experiences as a super-powered assassin. As an example of how the feature works, Steinman said, "Let's say you're a stealth player who likes to carefully explore every option... now you can move a slider that adjusts how effective you are leaning from behind a barrier when skulking around." Other examples that were given include being able to set how quickly Sleep Darts work on enemies and controlling the number of baddies who attack you at once.

In addition to being able to customize your experience, you'll also be given the option to toggle "Iron Mode", which makes it so that you can't manually save or load your game. This option also turns on permadeath, so you'll have to carefully weigh each action you perform, because it could very well be your last.

The second feature added by the update is the ability to replay missions, just in case you'd like to get some perfect runs. According to Steinman, the selectable missions "will retain the status of your playthrough at the start of that mission (character, chaos, runes, money, choices, etc)." Just be mindful of your game state before attempting to redo a mission. Wait for the update to go live and then experience more of what made Dishonored 2 one of the best games of 2016.
