Overwatch's Bastion To Get Buffed In Future Update

Bastion, the lovable/rage-inducing robot from Overwatch, is set to get a few changes that will make him more viable in combat.

Geoff Goodman, Principal Designer on Overwatch, posted in the official forums, responding to player complaints about the walking turret known as Bastion. Players want him to have more survivability in the game, mainly because his ability to transform into a stationary turret can leave him incredibly vulnerable, even though it also turns him into a powerful defender. Goodman responded by providing a short list of tweaks that we'll probably see in the next Public Test Realm update:

"Recon Mode – Lowered spread and increased magazine size, to help with general viability in this mode.

Sentry Mode – We're looking at focusing this mode into more of a tank-buster and barrier-buster mode, while also making it feel less suicidal to be transformed. To that end we're testing stuff like increased spread and removing headshots, but taking less damage while transformed.

Self-Repair – We've been testing a few big changes to this that are feeling really good so far. Currently our internal build has Bastion able to use Self-Repair while moving and also having it no longer interrupted when taking damage. To balance that out it is now on a resource system (similar to the route D.Va's defense matrix went). These changes have turned this ability from a more niche rarely used ability, to a much more powerful and core survivability tool."

There's no indication with regard to when these changes will be implemented, but Overwatch is constantly evolving, so you can expect these tweaks to come soon. Providing updates to the game and listening to the community are just a few ways Blizzard Entertainment made Overwatch one of the best games of 2016.
