Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker 2: When Will We Get A Sequel?
In the Mushroom Kingdom, there is one particular resident whom many people consider to be the most annoying Mario character. Sadly, that character is none other than Toad. While Luigi has long been living in his brother's shadow, Toad can barely even lay claim to a shadow to live in.
Of course, his is not a completely sorrowful tale. While Toad may not have many opportunities to venture out with his friends on daring platforming escapades, he did get to star in a weird spin-off game that is still considered a Wii U hidden gem. "Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker" was so popular, it was later ported to the Nintendo Switch.
In his latest appearance, Captain Toad and the Toad Brigade showed up in "Bowser's Fury," which was a reminder of just how charming the game and its titular hero were. If you loved the fun, upbeat puzzles found in "Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker," you might be anxious to know if a sequel is on its way. This is what you can expect.
Has Captain Toad tracked all of the treasure?
You may have heard about a reveal trailer for a new "Captain Toad" game that leaked on April 1, 2021. If you somehow missed the day it was uploaded and its title, then when you watch the video, it will become abundantly clear that this announcement was unfortunately an April Fools' joke. Aside from the faux trailer, there are no leads for a sequel.
While "Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker" may appear to be a one-off adventure, you might be surprised to learn it's a game that's part of a larger series. Unless you beat "Treasure Tracker," you probably didn't know its connection to "Super Mario 3D World."
In what way are the two games tied together? "Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker" is actually the prequel to "3D World," meaning that there technically is a sequel — but Captain Toad is definitely more of a supporting character in the latter game. Even so, you may just have to revisit "3D World" after completing "Treasure Tracker" if you're in need of some more Captain Toad goodness. It doesn't look like a full "Treasure Tracker" sequel will be coming any time soon.
