New Injustice 2 Trailer Introduces Doctor Fate

The super-packed superhero game from NetherRealms Studios and Warner Bros. has just thrown a new character into the mix, introducing Doctor Fate to the Injustice 2 crew.

Recently, the developer behind Injustice 2 made players a bold promise: a brand-new character would be revealed on March 2. Well, today has rolled around, and the company has totally delivered. Announced in a character reveal trailer, Doctor Fate is the latest addition to DC's upcoming beat-em-up game and the 21st playable character to be announced thus far.

Doctor Fate, known for his mega-powerful magic, is seen in the sneak peek showing off his sharp skills against some strong forces. Glimpses of gameplay footage highlight the mysticism of the magic man's strength as he teleports at will, casts spells like nobody's business, and wields plenty of ankh daggers around the likes of Atrocitus, Cyborg, and Superman. The supernatural sorcerer squares up with the Dark Knight and gives him an ominous message: "You once brought hope [but] justice is blind, not heartless."

For many, Doctor Fate seems a unique choice to add to the roster, but one that will serve the game well. This time around, he even possesses a hyper-powered move in which he launches his opponents into a new dimension. (Talk about a next-level smackdown.)

By the looks of this new trailer, Injustice 2 may very well make a huge splash and pack an even bigger punch. The game's official synopsis backs that theory up, apparently promising thrills, chills, and plenty of kills: "The line between hero and villain has become blurred as the most epic battle in the DC universe rages on in Injustice 2. While Batman has emerged the victor in his battle against the Regime, a new threat arises and poses the ultimate threat to Earth."

Injustice 2, the sequel to Injustice: Gods Among Us, will also feature other recognizable DC characters like Bane, Brainiac, Black Canary, Catwoman, Darkseid, Deadshot, Gorilla Grodd, Harley Quinn, Poison Ivy, and Swamp Thing. It's set for release on May 16.
