Will Forza Horizon 5 Release On Xbox One?

At the Xbox and Bethesda Game Showcase during E3 2021, Microsoft announced that "Forza Horizon 5" releases in November. Set in Mexico, "Forza Horizon 5" will contain the largest and most diverse open world in a "Forza" game yet, covering a number of rainforests, deserts, mountains, and towns. Much of the presentation and news around the game have focused on the Xbox Series X|S's power creating a better "Forza Horizon" experience. Like many games releasing early in the new generation of consoles, people want to know if "Forza Horizon 5" will be coming to both the Xbox Series X|S and the Xbox One.

Fans may have been a bit surprised to see "Forza Horizon 5" at the showcase and to see it with a 2021 release date. Microsoft announced a new "Forza Motorsport" title last year as a next-gen reimagining of the series, but the company decided to make "Horizon 5" the series' first offering on next-gen consoles. Microsoft and Playground Games have already said that the game will feature 4K resolution and 60 FPS on next-gen consoles, utilizing the power of new technology.

Forza Horizon 5 is coming to the Xbox One

Xbox One gamers might have missed out on a new "Forza" title in 2019, but they're in luck when it comes to "Forza Horizon 5." Unlike "we believe in generations" Sony, Microsoft has always said it hopes to release titles on the Xbox One for the first couple years of the Xbox Series X|S, and "Forza Horizon 5" is one of those titles. In multiple press materials the Xbox One was listed as a platform for "Forza Horizon 5," so it is very much confirmed for that console. It will also be available on launch day via Game Pass, which continues to be worth getting.

Microsoft and Playground Games have focused marketing on hyping up the power of the Xbox Series X|S, so not much has been said about how the game will be limited in order to run on older hardware. Based on "Forza Horizon 4" it will most likely run at a lower resolution and frame rate, but since this is the first "Forza Horizon" game launching on the Xbox Series X|S, there might be some game modes and features cut from the Xbox One version.
