Thanos Stars In Telltale's First Guardians Of The Galaxy Trailer
The first trailer for Telltale Games' Guardians of the Galaxy is here, and it's got everything you'd expect from Marvel's merry band of misfits. Wisecracks in the face of danger? Check. A talking tree and a homicidal raccoon? Check. A glowing artifact with nebulous powers, an imposing villain bent on galactic domination, and classic rock and roll tunes? Check, check, and check.
Given that, like all of Telltale's games, Guardians of the Galaxy is an interactive adventure that emphasizes story over fast-paced gameplay, it's a little surprising that the new trailer doesn't reveal more specifics about the game's plot. The broad strokes are there, of course: the Nova Corps ask the Guardians for help with a mysterious... something, which brings them into conflict with Thanos, the villain from the first Guardians of the Galaxy flick.
Beyond that, however, the details are pretty slim. Thankfully, Guardians fans won't have to wait too much longer to find out more. The first episode (out of five total) of Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy adventure is out on April 18, 2017.
Telltale's Guardians of the Galaxy may not be as by-the-book as it first seems, either. Without getting into spoilers, Telltale's Batman started as a fairly traditional take on the Dark Knight, but veered off into unique and unusual territory by the end of its five episode run. Will Marvel let Telltale take similar liberties with Star-Lord, Gamora, and the rest? We'll see.
If the video game isn't enough interstellar action for you, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the big-screen sequel to the first movie, hits screens on May 5, 2017, while this list of the best Guardians of the Galaxy comics should be enough to keep you busy for a good long time.
