Drive Dom's Fate Of The Furious Car In Rocket League

Fate of the Furious, the eighth film in the storied Fast and the Furious franchise, is all about doing crazy things with cars. So is Rocket League, Psyonix's frantic mash-up of racing and soccer (and basketball, and hockey, and sort of volleyball). As such, a crossover between the two makes a lot of sense. Psyonix and Universe Pictures must agree, because on April 4, Rocket League players will be able to download the Dodge Ice Charger driven by Vin Diesel's Dom Toretto in the upcoming film for a slick $1.99.

In addition to the Ice Charger (a souped-up Dodge Charger, apparently), players who purchase the downloadable content pack will also receive an exclusive set of wheels and six decals, which can be used to customize Dom's ride as well as other vehicles.

Before you dismiss this as an April Fool's Day joke, keep in mind that this is far from the first time that Psyonix has teamed up with other companies to create branded Rocket League DLC. In the past, Rocket League has featured vehicles from the Hot Wheels toy line as well as films like Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Back to the Future.

This isn't the first video game appearance forĀ The Fast and the Furious, either. In 2004, Raw Thrills developed an arcade game based on the first movie, while a PlayStation 2 and PSP game heavily inspired by The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift came out in 2006. Fast and Furious-related vehicles have also appeared as free DLC in various editions of the Forza franchise.

Of course, the timing of this new Rocket League DLC isn't a coincidence. Fate of the Furious debuts on April 14, which is just a couple of weeks from now. If using Dom's wheels to knock a soccer ball around an arena won't hold you over until then, check out these alternate endings for various entries in the Fast and the Furious franchise. They may not be canon, but hey, at least it's new content!
