Resident Evil 7: Not A Hero DLC Delayed

Capcom isn't done with Resident Evil 7 yet, but it's going to be a little bit longer before fans get more of it.

In a video posted on YouTube, Resident Evil 7 director Koshi Nakanishi and producer Masachika Kawata confirmed that "Not a Hero," the next batch of free Resident Evil 7 downloadable content, will miss its previously announced spring 2017 release window. In the video, Nakanishi and Kawata claim that "Not a Hero" didn't live up to the standards set by the main Resident Evil campaign, and that further development is needed to bring the add-on up to snuff. A new release date was not announced.

"Our aim for this content is to match the high quality of the main game," Kawata said. "So we need more development time in order to achieve that goal."

Resident Evil 7 executive producer Jun Takeuchi elaborated. "Resident Evil 7 was supported passionately by you, our fans, and the game was very well-received," he said. "We are also working on a further piece of DLC at the moment, and we wish to deliver both of these to you and up to the standard you expect from Resident Evil 7."

The DLC (which was announced back in February) features fan-favorite Resident Evil character Chris Redfield, who appeared in the very first Resident Evil game and made a brief cameo at the end of Resident Evil 7. Aside from Redfield's involvement, Capcom has remained silent about what "Not a Hero" will be about, although the company teased that Redfield is chasing someone, or something.

Resident Evil 7 launched in January, and it brings the long-running series back to its survival horror roots. So far, two pieces of premium DLC have been released for the game: "Banned Footage Vol. 1" and "Banned Footage Vol. 2," both of which contain a couple of new scenarios to play through, as well as one new gameplay mode each.

Of course, DLC isn't the only place to find new Resident Evil mysteries. There are a number of misconceptions about the franchise floating around, many of which would be fairly easy to clear up.
