Fortnite X Dragon Ball: Everything Added In The New Event

If you're a 90s baby, it's likely you grew up with "Dragon Ball Z." The popular anime served as a cultural benchmark when it began airing in the United States and — along with other Japanese animation shows of its time — helped introduce the Western world to anime as a whole. Even some 15 years later after its American TV debut in 1996, the influence and legacy of "Dragon Ball" and its various media components continues to be felt. To commemorate that influence, "Dragon Ball" has collaborated with yet another fixture within pop culture: "Fortnite."

The ever-popular battle royale title will be hosting a "Dragon Ball"-themed event that will run from August 16 to August 30. Throughout the event, many of the anime's most prominent characters and imagery will be represented within the in-game world of "Fortnite." This ranges from characters, to emotes, to even attacks. But exactly how many things are being added in this blockbuster summer event and what should fans of both IPs be looking forward to? Here's everything that's been added in the "Fortnite" x "Dragon Ball" event.

Exclusive Dragon Ball skins

Of course, if you're making a "Dragon Ball"-themed event, it wouldn't be complete without representation from its most iconic characters.  In turn, "Fortnite" will feature skins for four characters from "Dragon Ball Super:" Son Goku, Vegeta, Bulma, and Beerus. To make things even better, none of these characters have been give the classic "Fortnite"-style makeover. Instead, each is presented in its classic cel-shaded style

The skin for Goku, the main character of the "Dragon Ball Z" series, will sport three different styles: Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan Blue, and Ultra Instinct. Goku's skin also has a built-in charging up emote. A different "Universal Charging Up" emote is sold separately in the Item Shop. Vegeta's skin comes with the Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan Blue, and Super Saiyan Blue Evolved and his own charging-up emote as well. Bulma's standard skin is accompanied by an alternative lab coat attire, and Beerus comes as is with no additional add-ons.

Dragon Ball Adventure Island and a cruise ship

A big part of the "Dragon Ball" event in "Fortnite" will be the Dragon Ball Adventure Island. According to the press release, this island will be an oasis that features recreations of popular locations that should be familiar to any "Dragon Ball" fanatic. These locations include Kami's Palace, Goku's House, and the Room of Spirit and Time. Players can engage in various activities at these locations, be it preparing food or making their way through an obstacle course. There is also a battle arena called Tenkaichi Budokai where players can either choose to explore or engage in some old-fashioned PvP action.

In addition to Dragon Ball Adventure Island, a cruise ship has also been constructed where players can relax. From August 16 to August 17, players who choose to go to the cruise ship will be able to attend the Dragon Ball Super Episode Festival where a total of 6 episodes from "Dragon Ball Super" will be shown on a giant screen. Players will also be able to obtain individual "Island Codes" if they wish to watch a specific episode as opposed to watching them in their normal rotation.

Other events and items

One of the most iconic parts of the "Dragon Ball" franchise isn't just its recognizable characters, but the powers they wield as well. For a limited time, "Fortnite" players will be able to harness these powers and use them as weapons against opponents when playing Battle Royale. These perks will act as delivery pick-ups on the map. Kamehameha, one of the more popular attacks from the franchise, will unleash a beam of energy at enemies. Players will also be able to summon the Nimbus Cloud (Kintoun) as a means of transportation. However, these items will not be available in the typical Competitive playlist. Instead, it will be a part of the Tournament of Power which will debut on August 18 and offer unique and exclusive prizes to the top competitors.

There will also be a small island where you can meet Bulma, who will provide players with items.
