Mario Movie Fans Just Got Bad News
By NICHOLAS WILSON
Illumination’s upcoming “Mario” movie has already faced considerable backlash from fans, as Chris Pratt was cast as the voice of Mario, instead of the official game voice, Charles Martinet. Pratt will be backed by a star-studded voice cast, including Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, and Jack Black in the role of Bowser.
Recently a tweet by Nintendo of America, written by Miyamoto himself, confirmed that the release date of the "Mario" movie would be pushed back to Spring 2023. Naturally, this has been making fans question if the delay has anything to do with the voice acting cast's reception.
Whether the producers had to push back the release for creative reasons or due to the negative reaction to the casting is unclear. And who knows — maybe they are delaying it to prevent a "Sonic the Hedgehog" style crisis.
