RIP DAYBREAK'S MARVEL MMO
By Christian Smith
The art of making a video game is a difficult task with plenty of moving parts, and if any of those parts have an issue, it can cause a cancellation on a game’s development. This may be what has happened to a "Marvel" MMO that had been in the works at Daybreak Game Company since 2018.
In a May 25 press release from Daybreak’s parent company, EG7, it was confirmed that the "Marvel" MMO project had been canceled. This press release stated: "Based on the re-evaluation of the development risk profile, size of investment, and the long-term product portfolio strategy for the group, the board has decided to change the development priorities and reallocate resources within the group to focus on alternative long-term projects."
The $50.5 million that was allotted for the development of this MMO will be split between existing projects like "The Lord of the Rings Online" and "DC Universe Online." Although the news of the cancellation may be a disappointment to some, there are plenty of MCU projects on the way to keep fans excited.
