The Game That Ruined David Harbour's Life
By JAMES CARR
David Harbour, best known for his role as Jim Hopper in "Stranger Things," recently discussed his experience with "World of Warcraft." During a Netflix Geeked Week interview for "Stranger Things” Season 4, host Felicia Day mentioned that she and Harbour had been talking about "WoW" off-camera, prompting Harbour to share his negative experience with it.
Referring to it as "the most embarrassing thing in [his] existence," Habour said, "In 2005 ... It ruined my life for like a year. I mean, I was like out of my mind. Yeah, I was wildly addicted to this video game.” Day then asked Harbour if he participated in raids, which Harbour replied he had, going on to reveal the game that was able to pull him out of his "World of Warcraft" hole.
The revelatory moment that broke his addiction was apparently thanks to "The Sims": "I remember my avatar got to a certain level in his acting career, and I kept trying to get him to work on his speech... and all he wanted to do was sit around and play video games, And then I was like, 'Whoa whoa whoa whoa,' I had this vortex moment where I saw my life before my eyes."
