The Hogwarts Legacy Spell That Could Solve The Secret Behind Its Cats
By NATHAN SIMMONS
An Animagus in the "Harry Potter" franchise is a wizard who can transform into an animal, and not all Animagi use this skill responsibly. In "Hogwarts Legacy," one of the in-game newspapers details the story of a woman who turned into a cat in order to spy on her neighbors, which raises all sorts of questions about the cats in the game, of which there are many.
Some players have encountered all kinds of weird things while petting cats, like some that vanish without a trace right before getting ear scratches, which could be chalked up to another random glitch in the game's code — or perhaps to a wizard in disguise. Fans of the "Harry Potter" series might recall that there’s a spell to forcibly draw an Animagus out of hiding.
In "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban," Sirius Black and Remus Lupin use a reversal spell to reveal that Ron’s pet rat, Scabbers, was actually the traitorous wizard Peter "Wormtail" Pettigrew. Unfortunately, the exact canonical name of the spell is unknown, and the game’s developers didn’t include it in "Hogwarts Legacy," but maybe it will be in the sequel.
