The Last of Us Leak Confirms What We Suspected
By CADE DAVIE
Thanks to the game being listed on the PlayStation Direct store and to a leaked trailer, fans of “The Last of Us” now not only know that the remake officially exists, but how much it will cost and when it launches. "The Last of Us: Part I," as it's being called, will allegedly be available on September 2, 2022, at $69.99 or $99.99 for the Firefly Edition.
According to the game's page on the store, which has since been removed, players can expect to, "Enjoy a total overhaul of the original experience, faithfully reproduced but incorporating modernized gameplay, improved controls and expanded accessibility options. Plus, feel immersed with improved effects and enhanced exploration and combat."
Undoubtedly, more details will be forthcoming on how the remake plans to take advantage of the PS5's beefy horsepower and the unique features found within the DualSense controller. With September not too far off, a "Last of Us" TV show in the works, and the still unreleased "Last of Us: Part II" multiplayer on the way, the franchise has plenty of content on the horizon.
