THE LAST OF US TV SERIES CONFIRMS THE STARS FANS WANTED ALL ALONG
By NATHAN SIMMONS
"The Last of Us" continues to dominate the video game news cycle, as Summer Game Fest 2022 has just revealed the cast for the game’s upcoming HBO series adaptation. After joking with the SFG host, Naughty Dog creative director Neil Druckmann revealed the two stars confirmed for the leading roles of the TV show: Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey.
There were more surprises, however, when Druckmann brought out the voice actors of “The Last of Us,” Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson, and assured the SFG host that he hadn’t misspoke. Not only will the two actors who voiced the main characters Joel and Ellie appear in the TV series, but their roles will be significant and not mere cameos.
This was obviously huge news for fans who may have been disappointed by the recasting of the lead roles, but for their part, Baker and Johnson were complimentary of the work they'd seen from Pascal and Ramsey, reassuring fans that the beloved characters were in good hands. The first season of HBO's "The Last of Us" is set to debut in 2023.
