The Nintendo Gamecube Game That Takes the Longest
to Beat
By BRITTANY ALVA
Nintendo's decision to switch to discs for the Nintendo GamCube meant there was far more space to work with than they had with the cartridges on their previous consoles (despite the complications caused by its custom disc format). This allowed for many titles to have well over 100+ hours of gameplay.
It may seem as though the most popular GameCube game, "Super Smash Bros. Melee," would be the longest — however, it only requires an average of about 68 hours to complete. That is quite a long time, but it is far from the average playtime of 200 hours that the original "Animal Crossing" boasted.
Due to its real-world time system, "Animal Crossing" forces players to play at a slower pace in order to find certain items, make money efficiently, and befriend villagers. The GameCube’s second longest title is "The Legend of Zelda Collector's Edition," which contains all the "Zelda" entries prior to the release of the GameCube, resulting in an average play time of 125 hours.
