Are ya ready, kids? Because Nickelodeon's classic "SpongeBob SquarePants" franchise is returning to the digital world. Fans tend to go wild when the iconic Nickelodeon character returns to video games, as was the case with THQ Nordic's anniversary in 2021. At some point in 2023, fans of the absorbent, yellow, and porous sea sponge will be treated to a new adventure with the upcoming "SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake," a 3D platformer based on the animated series. In the game, players control SpongeBob as he and his friend Patrick Starr — who has been transformed into a balloon — journey through a series of dimensions known as Wishworlds.
Following a glimpse in August at what gameplay in "SpongeBob SquarePants: The Cosmic Shake" will be like, "SpongeBob" fans have expressed excitement with the new title and its take on the classic PlayStation 2-era platform formula. What does Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake BFF Edition include?
According to the game's official website, "Spongebob Squarepants: The Cosmic Shake – BFF Edition" will be available across every platform the title is launching on, including PlayStation 4, Switch, PC, and Xbox One. The "BFF Edition" of the game mainly contains physical collectibles such as statues and toys, but it also comes with one expansion pack for the game itself. In addition, the "BFF Edition" includes the following:
- Cosmic Victory Statue, a 9.8-inch statue depicting SpongeBob singing into a microphone while a balloon version of Patrick floats behind him. This is reminiscent of a shot from the game's original trailer.
- Set of Four Costume Miniature Bouncing Balls, each containing SpongeBob wearing a unique outfit. These include SpongeBob as a pirate, boxer, cowboy, and sailor.
- Inflatable Patrick, a 19.7-inch inflatable alluding to Patrick's balloon form within the game.
