Resident Evil 4 Remake: Easy Guide To Catch The Jewel Thief

There are quite a few requests in the new "Resident Evil 4" remake, but there's one in particular that a lot of players seem to be struggling with called Jewel Thief. The slip for this request will be located to the right of the elevatorĀ on the wall just outside the Ballroom that Leon rides up to the surface in Chapter 12. It should be right beside another request slip called The Disgrace of the Salazar Family.

"Someone help me recover a stolen jewel snatched by a thieving crow!" the note states. "I bet it can be found in the vile thing's nest. It is an heirloom of our family and cannot become some bird's plaything." This slip will also state that the objective is to sell a scratched emerald, the area where players will be able to resolve the request is in the Courtyard, and that the reward for completing it is three Spinels.

Once players have the note in hand, all that's left to do is head to the Courtyard and hunt down a thief for this "Resident Evil 4 Remake" Jewel Thief quest. Fortunately, this isn't one of those requests where the player will have to run all over looking for half a dozen hidden blue medallions, nor will they have to defeat a particularly powerful enemy. All they have to do is find and shoot a single, solitary crow's nest.

Shoot the nest and sell the emerald

In order to complete Jewel Thief, players should start by heading towards the Courtyard. They will have to run all the way back through the Grand Hall to get there, but it shouldn't take too long. The Courtyard is home to a rather large hedge maze, so one might assume that players need to spend a long time running around searching its various twists and turns for the crow, but finding the bird is actually deceptively easy. As soon as the player leaves the Grand Hall, they will find the crow perched on the stone archway right outside the door. Shooting the crow doesn't get them the prize, however. The real objective is to follow it back to its nest.

This is located on the opposite side of the Courtyard. The player should stand in the area right outside the entrance to the fish pond and face directly north, in the direction that they would have to go to reach the merchant and the save point. From here, they should aim at the overhang just above the archway in front of them. It's a small detail that's easy to miss, but the crow's nest is located here. Once they shoot the nest, the emerald will fall to the ground.

Picking up the scratch emerald doesn't officially finish the quest, however. This mission is only marked complete once the player takes it to the merchant and sells it. Only then will they be able to claim their three Spinel reward.
