  • Cody has been a gamer for over 25 years and has collected a well-rounded knowledge about different genres, mechanics, and the evolution of video games over the last two decades.
  • Cody has always been technologically minded, having built PCs, modified stereos, and tinkered with various other electronics from a young age. He also has backgrounds in reviewing gaming hardware and videography/video editing.
  • Cody has studied writing and story structure extensively. He's written and published several works of science fiction and fantasy and has also taught Sci-Fi/Fantasy Writing at Linn-Benton Community College. All of this has given him an affinity for structured writing and narrative flow.

Cody has been a gamer ever since his dad bought him a Sega Genesis when he was five-years-old, though he started out primarily interested in writing fiction. His science fiction and fantasy stories have been featured in the North Dakota Quarterly, Writer's Digest, and Asomov's. He started shifting toward journalism in college when he fell in love with a course on magazine writing. Cody began his freelancing career writing for High Ground Gaming where he wrote lists, news, and reviews. He has also made several unboxing/review videos for their YouTube Channel.

Cody has a BA in English and a Writing Minor from Oregon State University where he specialized in Creative Writing and Journalism. These fields taught him about AP style and journalistic structure, but he also learned the value of tone and how to hook an audience's interest.
