Destiny 2's Black Armory DLC Has A Lot Of People Mad

Destiny 2's first major content release since the Forsaken expansion dropped yesterday, and a bunch of people are already pretty angry about it.

The DLC pack, titled Black Armory, is the first of three content drops that Destiny 2 players can expect over the course of the next six or seven months. But there's a big snag that has to do with the power level requirements for the DLC's most hyped up addition. Namely, the first "forge" that Guardians in the game have access to is a higher level activity. Black Armory opens with a bit of a grind quest — kill a bunch of things, then kill some more things, and then kill even more things — but after that, players are asked to locate and reignite a lost forge.

Destiny 2's highest power level, up until yesterday, was 600. Black Armory's first forge has enemies at power level 615, with a boss at 630. The level difference between players and enemies has made the encounter incredibly difficult to survive, even for two of the three rounds required to complete it. And fans of the game have had a lot to say about that fact.

"No one expected to be able to do it ALL on day one, but I'm sure most of us expect to be able to do SOME of it," wrote one player on Reddit. Another complained about the lack of excitement surrounding the forges themselves, saying that "There's nothing 'difficult' or interesting about them, other than the fact that they time-gate you out of being able to complete them easily by an otherwise useless increase of power."

The first forge — the Volundr forge — won't be the only forge available to engage come Friday. Another is set to launch at the end of the week, along with the Black Armory DLC's raid. It'll be interesting to see how players feel about the DLC pack as their power levels grow over time.

But it's safe to say that, right now, not everyone is a fan.
