Quantic Dream Announces Three Games Coming To PC This Summer
Developer Quantic Dream has provided the PC release dates for their three narrative adventures: Heavy Rain, Detroit: Become Human, and Beyond: Two Souls. Previously PlayStation exclusives, the trio will come to the Epic Games Store this summer.
Heavy Rain, Quantic Dream's serial killer drama, gets the ball rolling on June 24. The game was well-received following its release in 2010, with critics praising its storytelling, character development, and realism.
"Heavy Rain is a game about choice — but not the kind of black-and-white moral decisions upon which games typically rely," said Game Informer's Joe Juba. "It's about choices that send ripples through the entire experience, changing what you see and coloring your perception of the characters."
Supernatural thriller Beyond: Two Souls will follow Heavy Rain, launching on July 27. Starring Ellen Page and Willem Dafoe, the game's blockbuster cast does not quite make up for its deficiencies. Upon its initial release in 2013, Beyond divided critics. Some praised its motion capture and soundtrack, while others could not get past its disruptive narrative and empty characters.
"There's no tension, no sense of investment, no pleasure to be derived from getting personally involved," said Jim Sterling of Destcructoid. "Just a plodding, methodical march towards the game's warbling conclusion."
Sci-fi thriller Detroit: Become Human will round out the roster, hitting the Epic Games Store in the fall. The game released to mostly positive reviews in 2018, garnering appreciation for its setting, controls, and smaller moments.
"Detroit: Become Human is a game with grand ideals, wonderful levels of polish, and tiny imperfections," raved GamesRadar+. "It's an ambitious, wonderfully executed piece of storytelling, and one of the most interesting games of this generation."
Quantic Dream plans to release free demos for all three titles prior to their full PC launches. You can check out the Heavy Rain demo on May 24, the Beyond: Two Souls demo on June 27, and the Detroit: Become Human demo this summer.
