Mysterious Banjo-Kazooie Listing For Switch Appears On Amazon Germany

Is there a Banjo-Kazooie game coming to the Nintendo Switch? Or are we once again being misled by a premature product listing? That's the question we're asking after an unannounced Banjo-Kazooie product showed up on Amazon Germany, getting fans of the bear/bird team all in a tizzy.

Game Rant reported on the listing, speculating that it could very well be an Amiibo featuring Banjo and Kazooie. And honestly, that sounds like the most plausible explanation at this point. The two Rare characters — once stars on the Nintendo 64 — are making their way back to a Nintendo console as DLC in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate this fall. And as we've seen in the past, those who achieve the honor of being added to the Smash roster usually get their own Amiibo figurines, too.

So there's that. Of course, the more fun leap to make is that a Banjo-Kazooie title could potentially be coming to the Switch; perhaps a port of the Nintendo 64 games along with Nuts & Bolts, which released on the Xbox 360. It's not totally impossible that this could happen, as Microsoft and Nintendo seem to have a good working relationship (as evidenced by Banjo and Kazooie coming to Smash). But this almost certainly would've been shown off during Nintendo's E3 Direct on Tuesday, and it wasn't.

So while we'd love to see Banjo-Kazooie come to the Nintendo Switch, along with about a bajillion other games, this listing is likely not evidence that it's happening just yet. And Amazon Germany could even be jumping the gun with regard to the Amiibo, putting up a product page for something it expects to see rather than something that's actually confirmed (similar to what Walmart did with Splinter Cell). If we do get an Amiibo for Banjo and Kazooie somewhere down the line, we'd expect it to be announced a little closer to their release in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Until then, you might want to temper your expectations a little bit.

Smash Ultimate's Banjo-Kazooie DLC is scheduled to arrive sometime this fall. The Smash Fighters Pass, which contains all DLC combatants for the title, can be purchased today for $24.99.
