The End Is Nigh And Abzu Are Next Week's Epic Games Store Freebies

Have you been grabbing all those free Epic Games Store titles? If so, you likely have a giant library of very good PC games by now. Next week, you'll be able to add not one, but two games to your collection, courtesy of Epic. What are they? Let's find out.

The End is Nigh is the first game you'll be able to download for free next week, and it's a platformer that's not unlike Super Meat Boy or, say, Celeste. You move a blob named Ash over and around a number of sometimes confusing, sometimes deadly objects via tricky jumps and ledge grabs. Should you fail, Ash explodes into a bloody mess. Should you succeed... well, you keep playing. You can watch this poor soul to get a sense of how the game plays.

For some reason, The End is Nigh has an M rating. Maybe that's due to the rather violent deaths you experience? At any rate, Epic has promised to give away two games should one be inaccessible to players because of its rating.

So we're also getting Abzu next week, which is about as chill a game as you could possibly play. Abzu is a fairly short experience without dialogue or text of any sort. Instead, you pick up the story as you swim forward through the environment. There's some light puzzle solving, but nothing too tricky. There are also some collectibles for those who want to run through the game another time or two. But you really owe it to yourself to play straight through Abzu at least once. It is, for the most part, very relaxing.
