How Long Does It Take To Beat Borderlands 3?

Can you believe Borderlands 3 is just around the bend? It feels like only yesterday we were watching Randy Pitchford inflate the length of the game's announcement with card tricks. Now the release of BL3 is imminent and some outlets have already published reviews, so we can finally take a stab at how long Borderlands 3 will take to beat.

Here are five of the websites that mentioned the length of the campaign found in Borderlands 3, alongside the time they provided. Some were more useful than others, as you'll soon discover.

IGN: 30 hours

GameSpot: 33 hours

Game Informer: "several dozen hours"

Destructoid: "30-ish" hours

PC Gamer: 30 hours

There already looks to be a clear consensus here, but for math's sake, we'll group everything together (save for the "several dozen hours") and then take the average as gospel. If we do that, we're sitting at somewhere between 30 and 31 hours of campaign time. That's a pretty hearty story mode, if we do say so ourselves.

Of course, if you're a fan of the Borderlands series, the odds are good that you'll spend far more time with BL3 once the campaign is complete. You'll still have a variety of side missions to knock out, for instance. And you'll also have the endgame, which consists of trying to locate better weapons so you can face down tougher challenges.

If you're new to Borderlands, you might discover that a game about grinding for ridiculous loot is what you've been missing all your life. Or you might call it quits after the campaign (or maybe even before that). If you stick it through to the end of the story, though, you'll likely get at least 30 hours out of it. That sounds like a pretty good value to us.

Borderlands 3 comes to PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Sept. 13, 2019.
