Monster Hunter: World - Iceborne Update Will Add New Volcanic Region

Things are about to heat up in Monster Hunter: World – Iceborne. In addition to the brutal Rajang monster, the expansion's first update will add a new volcanic region for players to explore.

The volcanic area will open up in a previously untouched portion of the Guiding Lands, bringing new materials you can use to customize your weapons and armor. Though Capcom has not shared any official images of the area, you can catch a glimpse of it at the conclusion of the Rajang trailer released on September 3. Rajang stands in what appears to be a volcanic cavern complete with lava flows and floating embers before entering its golden-hued Rage Mode and shooting lightning from its mouth. It's possible the volcanic region serves as the Rajang's habitat.

Beyond Rajang and the new area to explore, the free update will allow you to invite players to your room where you can entertain them with music and the new equipment display. Have some rare loot you've been dying to show off? Well, soon it will be your time to shine.

Iceborne has raked in plenty of praise since its release early last month. IGN awarded it a 9/10, calling it "true beast of an expansion" that "adds a boatload of impressive new and returning monsters and improvements to an already incredible game. It's almost big enough to be a sequel in terms of the sheer amount of content." As evidenced by the upcoming update, the development team is not content to rest on their laurels and will continue to support Iceborne with new content and patches.
